About WFAN
|
As the world’s first 24-hour all-sports radio station, Sports Radio 66 WFAN remains the premier sports talk radio station in the business. Since its debut on July 1, 1987, dozens of stations have copied the all sports format, but none have achieved the success and the notoriety of the FAN.
WFAN is the flagship station of four New York professional sports franchises, but perhaps the most important team regularly heard on the station is "Mike and the Mad Dog," Mike Francesa and Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo. While reporting and commenting on the biggest stories in sports, this dynamic duo, who host afternoon drive, go head to head with listeners and sports figures alike to deliver the best sports talk radio in the country.
Holding down the midday shift is the always colorful Joe Benigno. A super fan of both the Mets and Jets, Joe reprsents the FAN in all of us. While developing his show, Joe has hosted major in studio guests such as Walt Frazier, Lou Piniella, Dennis Rodman and Joe Montana.
Great play by play is the signature of a great sports radio station and the FAN is no exception. New York sports fans turn on WFAN to catch all the hits, home runs, tackles, punts, goals and three point plays the Mets, Giants, Nets and Devils offer. WFAN is also the home of Notre Dame football.
As the leader in sports talk radio, WFAN has provided in-depth coverage of the top sports stories in New York and throughout the world since 1987. From hirings to firings, signings and retirements, wins and losses and all the controversies, passionate, opinionated New York sports fans tune in to the FAN to hear about it first and to speak their mind.
WFAN also provides sports updates every 20 minutes with exclusive WFAN 20/20 Sports at the top of the hour, 20 minutes past the hour and 20 minutes before the hour.
The strength of the station goes beyond the world of sports. WFAN has proven itself a potent force in its charitable efforts. The annual WFAN Radiothon, a 28 ½ hour fundraising marathon, is an unparalleled demonstration of the power of radio put to its best use. Nearly $22 million has been raised to benefit the Tomorrows Children’s Fund, the CJ Foundation for SIDS and The Imus Ranch since the first Radiothon in 1990.
